Jones places second; Meyn, Weber reach semifinals for CU at Patriot Open

LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior DeAndre Jones finished second at 197 and seniors Austin Meyn and Brandon Weber each lost in the semifinals at 141 for the Cumberland wrestling team in the club’s first action of the season Saturday at the Patriot Open in Williamsburg, Ky.

The Phoenix open the 2017-18 campaign this Saturday at the Patriot Open in Williamsburg, Ky.

REMINDER: RSVP for Hall of Fame banquet

LEBANON, Tenn. – RSVP for Cumberland University's 29th Annual Sports Hall of Fame banquet by this Friday, September 30. The banquet is set for Friday, October 6 at 6 p.m. in Baird Chapel, with former student-athletes Danielle Henry (softball), Brandon Springer (basketball) and Corey Bleaken (wrestling) as well as administrator and contributor Pat Lawson set for induction that evening.

CU hosting All-Sports Camp on Sept. 10

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University and the Lebanon-Wilson County Chamber of Commerce Sports Council are teaming up for the 3rd Annual All Sports Camp for Wilson County residents ages 7-14 on Sunday, September 10 from 3-5 p.m. on the CU campus. Registration starts at 2 p.m. that day.

Ten squads earn NAIA Scholar Team accolades

LEBANON, Tenn. – The NAIA honored 10 Cumberland athletic squads this week as NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2016-17 academic year. Teams must obtain a 3.00 cumulative grade-point-average or higher for all eligible varsity student-athletes during the past academic year to garner the award.
