Katie Arnold begins her sixth year as the Athletic Training (AT) Program Director and her 12th year overall at Cumberland University. She added Director of Athletic Training to her title during the summer of 2016 as well. Arnold has served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, assistant athletic trainer, Interim Head Athletic Trainer/AT Program Director and AT Program Director at her alma mater.
In her current role, Arnold is responsible for maintaining Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accreditation, increasing academic rigor, and recruiting and overseeing the growth of the Athletic Training Program. In addition to her administrative duties, she also instructs several courses within the program and Health and Human Performance (HHP) curriculums.
Arnold worked with the wrestling program at CU from 2006-13 and served as the athletic trainer for men's and women's tennis and men's soccer from 2009-13. During her tenure she also worked with the football and men's and women's golf programs (2008-09).
Prior to becoming the Athletic Training Program Director, the Jacksboro, Tenn., native earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Cumberland University. She has a bachelor’s in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training (2006) and a master’s in Education (2008). She received her doctorate in Health Education from Still University in 2018.
