Jennefer Torres joined the Cumberland athletic training staff in January 2017, working with the football and track and field teams during the spring and documenting injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for the Phoenix. This year the Miami, Fla., native will again work with football as well as covering cross country/track and field, archery and bowling for the Phoenix.
Torres spent two years at Florida International before transferring to Central Florida, serving time as a student athletic trainer with women’s track and field, football, softball, men’s soccer and rowing. She documented treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, including the use of therapeutic modalities, and conducted and developed aquatic rehabilitation.
She spent one semester at Colonial High School, providing coverage during games and practices for soccer and football, assisting with the administration of Impact concussion testing along with taping, compression wrapping, stretching and initial assessment of injuries. Torres also worked one semester with women’s soccer at Rollins College, developing and supervising rehabilitation exercises as well as the use of therapeutic modalities.
Torres received her bachelor’s in Athletic Training from Central Florida in May 2016 and is currently working on her master’s in Sports Management at Cumberland.
