LaKeisha Fair returned to Cumberland for her second stint in the Athletic Training program in January 2012 after serving two years as a graduate assistant with the Phoenix.
Fair has worked primarily with the women’s soccer, men's and women's golf and cheer/dance programs at CU and will add men's volleyball for 2018-19, overseeing programs for the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and aiding in the management of the athletic accident insurance program. She is responsible for clinical instruction and supervision and the development of policies and procedures for athletic training students. She also operates as a faculty mentor for the Athletic Training Student Association, is mediator for SEATA athletic training quiz bowl and serves as an instructor in the Athletic Training Education Program.
From August 2008-May 2010, Fair worked with the women’s soccer, cheerleading, softball and women’s basketball programs at Cumberland, recognizing and treating injuries, identifying general medical conditions and making the appropriate referral. She communicated with the team physician for return-to-play parameters, supervised undergraduate students and post-operative athletes and taught classes in Clinical II, Rehabilitation and Evaluation of Upper and Lower Extremity.
Fair worked for the West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation (WCSMF) in Manhattan Beach, Calif., after leaving Cumberland, serving as an instructor for high school athletic training mentoring camps and athletic trainer at Verbum Dei and Leuzinger High Schools. She provided game and practice coverage along with weekly injury clinics at each school and assisted with weekly injury clinics at WCSMF. She also oversaw student athletic trainers from summer mentoring programs and worked with post-operative patients in the clinic.
The Inglewood, Calif., native received her bachelor’s in Exercise and Sports Science from Concordia [CA] University in Irvine, Calif., in May 2008 and her master’s in Education from Cumberland in May 2010.
Fair is a member of the National Athletic Training Association and Board Certified for Athletic Training as well as certified in American Red Cross First Aid and American Heart Association CPR.
