Bulldogs sweep TranSouth baseball honors
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland seniors Troy Frazier and Shawn Schaefer were named the TranSouth Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week Monday after their performances over the weekend against Missouri Baptist and Viterbo University.
Frazier went 9-for-14 (.643) in four games with one double, two home runs, seven runs scored and 11 RBIs. The Louisville, Ky., native collected seven hits and a pair of homers in Sunday’s doubleheader sweep of Viterbo, including a solo shot in the first game and a grand slam to end the second contest.
Schaefer tossed a one-hit shutout against Missouri Baptist on Saturday, giving up a single in the top of the first and not another hit the rest of the way. The Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, native retired the side in order in the second, third, fourth and seventh innings and walked one batter in both the fifth and sixth while striking out three.
Cumberland plays at St. Catharine College Tuesday at 1 p.m. before heading to Oklahoma City for six games during Spring Break starting Saturday.
