LEBANON, Tenn. – After winning 13 of its last 14 games, Cumberland moved up eight spots to No. 10 in the third edition of the 2011 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released Tuesday by the national office.
The Bulldogs, 32-12 overall and 11-4 in TranSouth Conference action, have lost just once since March 22. Cumberland was ranked No. 1 nationally in the Preseason Coaches’ Top 25 after winning last year’s national championship and was 17th and 18th, respectively, in the first two regular season polls of the year.
CU hosts Martin Methodist this weekend in a three-game series at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium starting with a single game Friday at 2 p.m. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at Noon, with Senior Day activities scheduled for between games.
Cumberland is currently tied for third in the TranSouth with Union University at 11-4. Martin Methodist is second at 14-4 in the conference and Trevecca Nazarene leads the league at 12-3. The top six teams make the TranSouth Championships scheduled for May 2-5 at Fesmire Field in Jackson, Tenn., on the Union campus.
