LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University lefthanded pitcher Chipper Smith was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 38th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Wednesday.


Mandarino named Honorable Mention All-American

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland pitcher/designated hitter Mike Mandarino was voted Honorable Mention All-America on Monday, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) All-America Selection Committee.


Sedgwick, Fann earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Justin Fann and Matt Sedgwick were both named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes on Thursday, as announced by the national office. Student-athletics must be junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for the award.


Baseball holding open tryouts

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland baseball will host an open tryout on Wednesday, May 30, at 10 a.m. at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium on the CU campus for high school players interested in joining the Bulldog program. The workout is open to all 2012 graduating seniors.


Bulldogs' season ends with 11-10 loss

Butler, Stovall help CU to 8-7 triumph

JACKSON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Antonio Butler collected four hits and scored twice and Devin Stovall tossed 5.2 innings of relief for the win, running into trouble in the ninth but hanging on for an 8-7 victory over Martin Methodist here at Fesmire Field on Wednesday afternoon in the TranSouth Championships.
