Torres, Cuadrado continue playing in professional ranks

LEBANON, Tenn. – Former Cumberland baseball players Phillip Cuadrado and Chris Torres have been added to the list still playing professionally, with both on teams in the independent Can-Am League – Cuadrado with the Rockland Boulders in Pomona, N.Y., and Torres the Worcester [MA] Tornadoes.

Cuadrado is batting .290 in 42 games with 11 doubles, nine home runs, 38 RBIs and 12 walks, while Torres is hitting .303 with seven doubles, 10 homers, 23 RBIs and 25 runs scored in 60 contests.

Eight former Cumberland players have continued their careers in the professional ranks, including Luis Martinez (Texas Rangers), Chipper Smith (Florida Marlins), Will Locante (Arizona Diamondbacks), Cory Farris (Chicago White Sox) and Tommy Winegardner (Baltimore Orioles) with affiliated clubs and Matt Greener (Rockford [IL] RiverHawks) in the independent ranks.
