LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland ‘s Mitch Rainer and Matthew Sedgwick were both named NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes, as announced Wednesday by the national office during the Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
In order to be eligible, student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale. A total of 266 total student-athletes from around the nation were honored by the NAIA.
Rainer, a senior from Gibsons, British Columbia, has a 3.51 GPA in Health and Human Performance, while Sedgwick, a redshirt junior from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., carries a 3.62 GPA in English. A total of eight Mid-South Conference student-athletes were named to the list, including three players from Campbellsville University (3), two from UVA-Wise and one from Lindsey Wilson.
