Winter, spring athletes go through Leadership Training

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University student-athletes in winter and spring sports participated in Leadership Training on Saturday, August 29 that included lectures from deans within the University, sessions on sexual assault, social media training and nutrition as well as eligibility.

Winter sports included wrestling and men’s and women’s basketball while spring sports included baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s bowling and cheer and dance. The student-athletes were split into five groups for the day.

Dr. Eric Cummings, Dean of the School for Humanities, Education and the Arts; along with Dr. Carole Ann Bach, Dean of Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions, held sessions along with Mitch Walters, Assistant Athletic Director for Eligibility and Retention, and Dr. Rick Bell, Faculty Athletic Representative. Director of Athletics Ron Pavan, Sports Information Director Jo Jo Freeman and Strength and Conditioning Coach Caleb Reiff were part of another session and Kaka Ray, a licensed practitioner in crisis, conflict and organizational culture, took the last session.
