Six baseball players garner NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors

LEBANON, Tenn. – Six Cumberland baseball players – Daulton Smith, Kaleb Qualls, Jared Schmidt, Cristian Straub, Matt Rowe and Blake Young – were named 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced last week by the national office.

Student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average to be eligible for the award.

Straub carries a 3.83 grade-point-average in Business Administration while Smith holds a 3.74 in Mathematics/Secondary Education and Young posts a 3.68, also in Mathematics/Secondary Education. Schmidt has a 3.67 in Business Administration, Rowe holds a 3.58 in Management and Qualls carries a 3.53 in Health and Human Performance.
