CU hosting All-Sports Camp on Sept. 11

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University and the Lebanon-Wilson County Chamber of Commerce Sports Council are teaming up for an 2nd Annual All Sports Camp for Wilson County residents ages 7-12 on Sunday, September 11 from 3-5 p.m. on the CU campus. Registration starts at 2 p.m. that day.


Former Cumberland players continue professional careers

LEBANON, Tenn. – Former Cumberland baseball players Aaron Wilkerson, Will Locante, Josciel Veras, Justin Byrd Anthony Gomez have continued their professional careers this summer across the nation from Triple-A to independent leagues.


REPORTS: Wilkerson receives call to MLB

LEBANON, Tenn. – Reports have surfaced this week that former Cumberland All-American pitcher Aaron Wilkerson will receive a call-up to the Major Leagues with the Boston Red Sox and is a possible candidate to start Sunday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Angels, though no official transaction has been made as of Noon Central Time on Friday.

Viera, Lares named to MSC Gold Glove Team

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Hector Viera and Gabe Lares were both named to the Mid-South Conference Baseball Gold Glove Team announced last week before the start of the conference tournament. Viera and Lares will now be considered for the Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove Team that is announced during the Avista-NAIA World Series later this month.


116 current, former student-athletes graduating Saturday

LEBANON, Tenn. – One hundred and sixteen current and former Cumberland student-athletes, athletic trainers and athletic staff will receive their degrees this Saturday in the 174th Commencement ceremonies on the lawn of Memorial Hall. It marks the fourth straight year of more than 100 graduates for athletic department student-athletes and personnel.

Radio broadcast schedule set for 2016 baseball

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland announced its 2016 baseball radio schedule this week, which includes 37 games over 25 dates beginning February 19. All Mid-South Conference games along with postseason action in the Mid-South Conference Championships, NAIA Championship Opening Round and Avista-NAIA World Series are part of the broadcast schedule.


Baseball dinner, auction set for Feb. 18

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland baseball will host its annual Kickoff Dinner and Auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 18 in the Benton Jennings Center on the CU campus. The evening includes a silent and live auction of baseball memorabilia as well as other donated items, with all proceeds benefitting the CU baseball program.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the 2011 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll released this week. The defending national champions garnered 16 of the 20 first-place votes and totaled 556 points.


Wilkerson named Preseason All-American

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland pitcher Aaron Wilkerson was one of 17 players named to the 2011 NAIA Baseball Preseason All-America Team, as announced by the national office.


Former Bulldog Godfrey passes away

LEBANON, Tenn. – Former Cumberland two-sport athlete Stephen Godfrey tragically passed away last Friday in Decatur, Ala. Godfrey played football and baseball at Cumberland in the early 1990’s and graduated in 1994 bachelor’s in Business Administration.

Baseball set to host Alumni Game

Seven CU squads earn NAIA Scholar-Team Award

LEBANON, Tenn. – Seven Cumberland athletic teams were recognized with the NAIA National Scholar-Team Award recently among 864 teams nationally. A team must post a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award.


Six selected for Sports Hall of Fame

LEBANON, Tenn. – Six former Cumberland University athletes and coaches will be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in the Class of 2010, including the late Nick Coutras, Randy Stegall, Rita Maynard McCarthy, Bud Childers, Roger Cox and Tommy Smith.








Bulldogs survive ninth, claim second national title
