LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University’s bowling team made a strong debut for the 2010 season, placing second overall in both the men’s and women’s divisions at the Green River Classic at Phillips Lanes in Campbellsville, Ky., on September 25.
Freshman Shelby Swindell bowled 208 in the first game of the day en route to an individual second place finish with 943 pins for the competition, which included five games. Freshmen Lauren Adams and Brennan Page finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with totals of 907 and 885 pins.
Jamarva Norman tallied Cumberland’s high score for a single game with a score of 209 in her second of four games bowled finishing the day at 668 pins.
Four Bulldogs finished in the Top 10 places individually for the men. Freshman Theo Shipp placed fourth overall, breaking 220 in four of five games. Stephen Roberts, Brandon Pannell and DJ Chaffin finished eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively, with scores of 1027, 1010 and 995. Chaffin, a Freshman from Lebanon, Tenn., bowled the team high with 258 pins in his third game.
Cumberland’s bowlers hit the lanes for their second tournament of the season at the Brickyard Classic on Friday, October 8, at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind.
