159 named to Spring 2017 Dean's List

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University released the Dean’s List for Spring 2017 last week with 159 student-athletes and athletic training majors recognized. The honor is reserved for undergraduate students who achieved a grade-point-average of 3.50 or above on all classes attempted during the spring semester.


125 student-athletes set for graduation Saturday

LEBANON, Tenn. – One hundred and twenty-five current and former Cumberland student-athletes, athletic trainers and athletic staff will receive their degrees this Saturday in the 175th Commencement ceremonies on the lawn of Memorial Hall. It marks the fifth straight year of more than 100 graduates for athletic department student-athletes and personnel.


LAST DAY: CU accepting nominations for 2017 Hall of Fame class

LEBANON, Tenn. – The Cumberland University Athletic Department is accepting nominations for the Class of 2017 Sports Hall of Fame until Monday, April 3. Nominations must be made in writing and include full justification for the nomination, including statistics, honors, awards and any other pertinent information about the nominee. The 2017 Hall of Fame dinner is set for Friday, October 6, at 6 p.m. in Baird Chapel.


Men win twice, women fall in two matches at MSC Championships

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland men’s bowling dropped its first match before winning twice and then losing again in the double elimination tournament while the Phoenix women lost its first two matches on Saturday in the Mid-South Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ky.


Bell takes fourth, Turner eighth in bowling singles

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Peyton Bell placed fourth and senior Jennifer Turner finished eighth in singles while Bell and Nathan Parrott were ninth and Turner and Savannah Shirley were 10th in doubles for the Cumberland bowling teams Friday at the Mid-South Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ky.

Bell bowls 290, wins High Game award at Keystone Quaker Classic

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Peyton Bell placed 13th to earn the High Game award and lead the Cumberland bowlers at the Keystone Quaker Classic and the Lehigh Valley Classic over the Christmas break in Allentown, Pa.


Denson places 24th for CU at Orange and Black

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Rickie Denson placed 24th overall for the women and senior Anh Nguyen was the top finisher for the men for the Cumberland bowling teams last weekend at the Orange and Black Classic in Dayton, Ohio.


Bell, Denson, Taylor lead bowlers in two events

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Peyton Bell placed 11th while Rickie Denson and Lauren Taylor finished in the Top 30 at the Louisville Collegiate Classic, leading the Cumberland bowlers this past weekend in two Mid-South Conference events.
