LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland cheerleading, dance and mascot summer tryouts are set for June 23-24 at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center, as announced this week by head coach Ruth Currie.
A clinic will take place Friday, June 23 from 4-7 p.m. and the official tryout is Saturday, June 24 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Minimum skills required for cheerleaders include ability to lead a crowd, appearance and poise, spirit and enthusiasm, coordination and rhythm, motions/technique/jumps, partner stunts, tumbling and chants. Dance squad members who tryout must bring 16 counts of jazz-hip hop and demonstrate leaps, kicks and splits.
Interested individuals must bring $10 cash to the tryout. No personal checks please; only cash will be taken.
Scholarship money is available for all team members, though not everyone on the squad will receive aid. Those interested must currently be a Cumberland University student or have received a letter of acceptance from the CU Admissions department.
