LEBANON, Tenn.- The Phoenix earned 22 votes in the 2019 NAIA Football Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, landing them just outside the top 25.
Morningside (Iowa), last season's national champions, received the number one spot with 366 points and all sixteen first place votes. Benedictine (Kan.) is the second ranked team with 352. Saint Francis (Ind.) comes in at third with 338 points. Kansas Wesleyan and Saint Xavier finish out the top five with 307 and 300 points, respectively.
The Mid-South features nine teams in the polls or receiving votes with six teams from the Bluegrass Division.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) grabbed the highest ranking, coming in at No. 13 with 182 points, Bethel (Tenn.) follows at No. 16 with 161 points, University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) falls one spot behind them at No. 17, and Georgetown (Ky.) sits at No. 21. The Phoenix and Campbellsville (Ky.) are both receiving votes.
In the Appalachian Division, Reinhardt comes in at No. 10. Southeastern (Fla.) represents the Sun Division at No. 19., while Ave Marie (Fla.) also received votes.
The first regular-season poll is scheduled to come out on September 16th.
The Phoenix prepare to open up their season on September 7th vs Cincinnati Christian at Nokes-Lasater Field at 1:30 PM.
