Williams cards first-round 75, CU tied for 10th

LEBANON, Tenn. – Senior Austin Williams carded an opening-round 75 and junior Dominic Patton shot 79 for Cumberland men’s golf on Monday at the Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn.

Williams posted a three-over round of 75, tied for 20th among 92 golfers, while Patton registered a seven-over 79, tied for 37th, on the par-72, 6,954-yard course.

Sophomore Josh Wiseman recorded a first-round 82, tied for 54th, and freshmen Bryson Smith and Reece Gaddes carded rounds of 83 and 84, respectively, on Monday, tied for 61st and 64th.

Cumberland shot 319 as a team, tied for 10th overall but just nine shots from sixth. Dalton State College leads the field at seven-under 281 on the first day. The tournament concludes with Tuesday’s second round.
