LEBANON, Tenn. – Senior Austin Williams carded a one-over par 73 and junior Garrett Daniel added a 76, leading the Cumberland men’s golf team on Monday at the RedHawk Fall Classic at Canebrake Club in Athens, Tenn.

Williams registered 15 pars in his round, second most in the field, en route to the over-par score. The Lafayette, Tenn., native trails Faulkner University’s Peter Peng by three strokes and Wade Duke from the University of Mobile and Loyola University’s Philip Nijoka by two shots heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Daniel is tied for 13th but one stroke from the Top 10 after his four-over par round of 76. The Linden, Tenn., native collected 12 pars and was one-under on the par-5’s on Monday.

Freshman Reece Gaddes posted three birdies and recorded a five-over par 77 in the first round, tying for 18th. Sophomore Colby Bolton totaled 12 pars in his round of 79 on Monday, tying for 29th, while senior Zach Polston made three birdies but struggled to an opening-round 80, tied for 34th.

Loyola leads the team standings by three strokes over Faulkner University with Cumberland 10 in back of the Wolf Pack in third place.
