LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Adrian Steeger carded a two-under par 70 and senior Garrett Daniel posted even-par 72, helping Cumberland to third place after the first day of the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational on Saturday at StoneCrest Golf Club in Prestonsburg, Ky.
The Phoenix trail by just three shots after 18 holes, posting a team score of 294, tied for third with Georgetown College and Midway University. Lindsey Wilson recorded a 290 for first place and the University of the Cumberlands stands at 293 heading into Sunday’s final round.
Steeger’s two-under 70 is just one stroke off the individual lead held by Lindsey Wilson’s Callum Blinkhorn and Midway’s Brandon Cambron. Daniel is tied for fifth with his even-par 72 along with four other players.
Freshman Nick Henderson and sophomore Bryson Smith each registered scores of four-over par 76, tied for 25th overall, while junior Jacob Nolen shot five-over 77, tied for 30th.
