Henderson cards 72, Gaddes 74 for CU men's golf

LEBANON, Tenn. – Nick Henderson carded an even-par 72 in the first round and sophomore Reece Gaddes posted a two-over 74 in the second round for Cumberland men’s golf Monday at the Sand Shark Invitational in Okatie, S.C.

The 14 teams played 36 holes on Monday at Oldfield Golf Club in the first event of the spring for the Phoenix.

Henderson was tied with eight other players for first place after the opening round with his even-par 72. The Cedar Hill, Tenn., native recorded a six-over 78 in the second round Monday and stands tied for 19th heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Senior Garrett Daniel is tied for 35th after 36 holes, collecting rounds of 77-76, while senior Adrian Steeger was tied for 30th after the first round along with Daniel but dropped off a bit on the second 18 holes, finishing with an 81, tied for 48th.

Gaddes posted a nightmare 90 on the first 18 holes but regrouped to shoot two-over 74 on the second 18. The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native stands tied for 67th after 36 holes.

Junior Josh Wiseman recorded rounds of 84-81 on Monday, tied for 70th.

Cumberland was tied for seventh along with two other teams after the first 18 holes but team scores went down in the second round but the Phoenix were just one stroke better as a team, dropping two spots to ninth among the 14 teams.
