OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Junior Josh Wiseman posted a two-over par 73 and freshman Adrian Steeger shot 74 for Cumberland men’s golf in the final round of the Phoenix Invitational on Tuesday here at Old Hickory Country Club.

Wiseman recorded four birdies and eight pars in his round, including three straight birdies on the back nine on holes 12-14. Unfortunately the Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native followed that with four consecutive bogeys. He shot one-over on the front nine with one birdie and two bogeys and moved up 18 spots in the final standings to a tie for 34th.

Steeger proved the most consistent of the nine Cumberland golfers to play this week, following his opening-round 72 with a three-over 74. The Marnau am Staffelsee, Germany, native collected 13 pars, four bogeys and a birdie at No. 18. He finished the 36 holes with 25 pars, tied for the second most in the field, and tied for seventh overall.

Sophomore Bryson Smith carded a four-over 75 in the second round that also included a baker’s dozen of pars. The Lafayette, Tenn., native netted three bogeys on the front nine and a double bogey at No. 13 and added a birdie on the 18th as well, tying for 40th individually with a two-day total of 156.

Junior Jacob Nolen’s scorecard was full of blue and red with a little black in an eventful five-ovver 76. The Hendersonville, Tenn., native posted a bogey on the first hole, then two birdies followed by three bogeys along with a double at No. 8. The back nine included two birdies and three bogeys and he also tied for 40th with Smith.

Sophomore Reece Gaddes played well on the front nine with a birdie at No. 2 and two bogeys, but the back nine was a roller coaster. The Mt. Juliet native double bogeys holes 10 and 15 and bogeyed Nos. 11, 13, 16 and 17 but made an eagle on the par-5 12th and a birdie on 14, finishing with a 77 for a two-day score of 147, tied for 11th.

Freshman Nick Henderson struggled through perhaps his worst round of the academic year, recording a second-round 79. The Cedar Hill, Tenn., native collected a birdie on each side but also posted a double on No. 1 and a triple bogey at 16, tying for 21st with a two-day total of 150.

Senior Dominic Patton also shot a 79 on Tuesday, placing 52nd overall. The Chippenham, England, native shot three-over for 12 holes before three bogeys and a double on the final six holes.

Senior Garrett Daniel registered a final-round 81 with seven bogeys and a triple bogey, dropping 20 spots to a tie for 45th. Freshman Garrett Hughes also finished with an 81 that included a birdie and 10 pars as well as two double bogeys and a triple. He tied for 53rd.

Cumberland played poorly as a team on Tuesday, shooting 306 and dropping from first to sixth after a 17-stroke swing from the first round to the second. The Phoenix play again April 13-14 at the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational in Friendship, Ohio.
