VONORE, Tenn.- Cumberland men’s golf struggled in day two of the Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate shooting a 314 as a team, their worst mark of the season.
Freshman Isaac Walker shot a round three, 77, shooting three birdies, three bogeys, a double and a triple bogey on the day. Walker finished in a tie for 8th place in the tournament.
After ending day one in a tie for second place, junior Bryson Smith shot an 81 in round three. Smith carded two birdies, six bogeys, one double bogey and one triple to fall to a 10th place finish.
Adrian Steeger continued to get better as the tournament went on scoring an 85 in round one, a 75 in round two and a 73 in today’s round three. Steeger carded two birdies and seven pars on the front nine and three bogeys and a six pars on the back nine. Steeger moved all the way up to finish 16th.
Reece Gaddes carded a round three score of an 83. Gaddes struggled on the front nine shooting a 45 and finishing the back nine with a two over 38. Gaddes finished in 27th place.
Freshman Tomi Acotto also shot a round three score of an 83. Acotto started off well with a four over on the front, but tripled No. 9, which is an unusual par 6. Acotto shot a seven over on the back carding seven bogeys and two pars. He finished in 28th place overall.
Cumberland did finish better than conference opponent the University of the Cumberlands in the Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate.
The Phoenix finish up their fall schedule at the TMU Fall Invitational in Adairsville, Ga. on October 20th and 21st.
