LEBANON, Tenn. – Pedro Antonelli scored twice in the first 16 minutes and the University of the Cumberlands held on for a 2-1 victory over Cumberland in men’s soccer action Saturday at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

Bradley Williams scored for the Bulldogs (1-5-0, 0-3-0 Mid-South) late in the first half, but CU was unable to net the equalizer and dropped its fourth straight outing.

Antonelli found the back of the net in the 12th minute on an assist from Ariel Castanon and scored again in the 16th minute from Kerrie Latapy for an early lead for the Patriots (3-1-1, 2-1-0).

Williams netted his third goal of the year on an assist from Mark Harrison in the 39th minute, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Williams missed most of the last three matches with an injury.

Cumberland outshot UC, 15-12, in a match that featured 36 fouls and three yellow cards.

Sully Shattuck took the loss in net for CU, making three saves, while Alex Swoboda made four saves for the Patriots.
