LEBANON, Tenn. – Mark Harrison scored for Cumberland in the 77th minute, but it wasn’t enough, as top-ranked Lindsey Wilson recorded a 3-1 victory over Cumberland in men’s soccer action Tuesday night in Columbia, Ky.
The Bulldogs (1-6-0, 0-4-0 Mid-South) lost their fifth straight match but held the nation’s highest scoring team relatively in check. LWC (10-0-0, 6-0-0) came into the match averaging 4.5 goals per outing.
Eddy Campbell put the Blue Raiders on top with an unassisted goal in the 21st minute and then assisted on Philip Sandgren’s score in the 76th minute for LWC’s final tally of the match. In between Lebogang scored on an assist from Yazeed Davids in the 39th minute.
Harrison scored his first goal of the season in the 77th minute, but LWC outshot the Bulldogs, 18-5, in the match, though CU had five corner kicks to six for the Blue Raiders.
CU’s Sully Shattuck made six saves in net, while Yuta Nomura had two saves for Lindsey Wilson.
Cumberland plays at Bluefield College on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT before returning home October 3 to face Union College at 4 p.m.
