LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s men’s and women’s soccer matches against Campbellsville University have been moved to this Friday at Noon and 2 p.m. because of forecasted rain in the area most of the week.
Weather forecasts call for an 80 percent chance of rain on Monday, 90 percent on Tuesday and 60 percent on Wednesday, which would greatly affect the playing surface at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.
The Bulldog women face 14th-ranked Campbellsville at Noon on Friday with second place on the line in the Mid-South Conference. If Cumberland wins, the two teams would tie for second and CU would earn the No. 2 seed in next week’s conference championships, which begin Thursday, November 5 in Bowling Green, Ky. If Campbellsville wins, the Bulldogs would finish fourth in the league standings, a half-game behind Georgetown College.
The men’s match holds even more importance, with the regular season conference title on the line. Cumberland enters the match 15-0-0 overall, 6-0-0 in conference play, while the Tigers are 13-2-0, 5-0-0. Campbellsville still plays the University of Pikeville on Nov. 2.
Cumberland has just one previous regular season conference title – 2006 in the TranSouth Conference. The Bulldogs end the home schedule Tuesday, Nov. 3 versus Ohio Christian at 1 p.m.
