LEBANON, Tenn. – Daniel Williams netted the game-winner in the 76th minute and Patrick Crawley added a goal in the final minute, helping Cumberland to a 2-0 victory over Milligan College in men’s soccer action Sunday afternoon in Johnson City, Tenn.
The teams were scoreless with 15 minutes to play on a combined 13 shots before Williams broke through, taking a feed from Bakary Bagayogo for his eighth goal of the year.
Crawley scored unassisted with just 23 seconds to play, sealing the win for the Phoenix (4-1-0). Cumberland outshot the Buffs, 8-2, in the second half and 11-5 in the match.
Milligan (1-5-1) goalkeeper Nick Smith made two saves in the loss, while Cumberland’s Bennet Strutz collected five saves.
Cumberland’s match scheduled for Tuesday at home against Fisk University has been canceled. The Phoenix plays again Saturday at West Virginia Tech in a doubleheader with the women.
