Men's soccer down one spot in NAIA Coaches' Poll

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland men’s soccer dropped one spot to No. 24 in this week’s NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll after posting a draw and a loss on the road at Top 15 squads.

The Phoenix played the final 70 minutes with just 10 men in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at then 12th-ranked Campbellsville University. Freshman Tyler Watson put CU ahead with a goal in the 38th minute, but a red card on freshman Austin Morenzoni put Cumberland down a man the rest of the way in the double overtime match.

The Phoenix then traveled to then 11th-ranked Lindsey Wilson and senior Brian McNamara scored twice in the first 17 minutes, but the Blue Raiders evened the match just before the half and posted four unanswered goals in the second half. The loss ended a six match unbeaten streak for CU.

Cumberland plays three of its final five regular season outings at home beginning Friday against Georgetown College at 2 p.m. at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.
