McNamara, Abudiore lead Phoenix in 5-0 win

LEBANON, Tenn. – Brian McNamara collected a pair of goals and Tosin Abudiore added a goal and an assist in a 5-0 victory for 24th-ranked Cumberland in the University of Pikeville in men’s soccer action Saturday at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

The Phoenix improved to 11-2-1 overall, 4-1-1 in Mid-South Conference action with just one league game remaining, this Wednesday at Life University at 6 p.m. CT.

Abudiore got Cumberland on the board in the 21st minute with his second goal of the year thanks to an assist from Daniel Williams, who also assisted along with Bakary Bagayoko on McNamara’s goal in the 38th minute to give CU a 2-0 edge at intermission.

Sondre Risa headed in a cross from Abudiore in the 69th minute and Bakayogo collected his second assist on Dylan Schwartz’s goal in the 74th minute on a corner kick. McNamara found the back of the net for the 14th time this season in the 84th minute on an assist from Alex West.

Cumberland goalkeeper Bennet Strutz registered two saves on the only two shots of the match for the Bears (2-11-1, 0-6-0). Pikeville’s Anibal Navarro posted nine saves.
