Strutz garners third MSC weekly honor

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland goalkeeper Bennet Strutz was named Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, helping the Phoenix to a victory in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament, as announced by the league office.

The Leverkusen, Germany, native made one save and faced four total shots in a 3-1 win over Shawnee State in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Championships last Friday in Campbellsville, Ky. The senior has a 1.00 goals-against-average this season, giving up 17 goals in 17 matches with 50 saves and five shutouts.

Cumberland takes on Life University in the semifinals of the conference tournament this Thursday at 4 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ky.
