CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- A pair of goals from Campbellsville’s Connor Pugh, leads the Tigers over the Phoenix in Saturdays matchup.
Ben Siri led the Phoenix in attempted shots with four with one being on goal. Campbellsville’s Connor Pugh led the team in all categories with three attempted shots with two being on goal and recording two goals.
The Phoenix attempted 13 shots with one being on goal to the Tigers 10 attempted shots with only five being on goal. Cumberland’s keeper Nicklas Rulle recorded three saves for the Phoenix, as Owen Scott had one save for Campbellsville.
Campbellsville began the game quick as Gustav Oskarsson was able to get a takeaway from the Phoenix, which was resulted in a pass to Connor Pugh who scored a goal in the 5th minute of the game to put the Tigers ahead of the Phoenix 1-0.
Throughout the remaining of the first half, the Phoenix maintained control of the ball, while attempting shots by Martin Walsh, Joaquin Carillo, John Azar, and Daniel Picken but none were able to connect. In the final two minutes of the first half, Pugh was able to connect for another goal for the Tigers making the score 2-0.
Siri started the second half fast for the Phoenix as he attempted a shot in the first two minutes but wasn’t able to connect. Cumberland continued to maintain possession of the ball throughout the second half while continues to pressure shots but none were able to connect resulting in the Tigers defeating the Phoenix 2-0.
The Phoenix will be facing against the 3rd seed University of the Cumberlands on Saturday, November 9th in Bowling Green, Ky. at Warren East High school at 7:30 P.M.
