Bill McCormick

Bill McCormick enters his fifth season as the tennis coach at Cumberland for both the men’s and women’s programs.

McCormick has led the men's team to a pair of NAIA National Tournament appearances the last two seasons, compiling a 37-8 mark during that stretch and a 48-25 record in four seasons with the men's program at CU. The Bulldogs won the TranSouth Conference regular season championship in 2012 as well and tied for the TSAC regular season title in 2011.

Antonio Manuel Marcelo has garnered NAIA All-America honors in each of the last two seasons and Pedro Rodrigues was a Second Team All-America selection in 2013.

He took over the women's program and immediately won the TranSouth regular season championship in 2010 before rebuilding the women's team over the next two years. CU returned to national prominence in 2013, finishing 14-7 overall and reaching the NAIA National Tournament for the first time under McCormick. Angelica Sepulveda earned Second Team All-America honors last season as well.

McCormick is a United States Tennis Association (USTA) certified professional with over 25 years of teaching experience. He has worked as the Head Professional at four different tennis clubs and has served as the Head Pro and Director of Tennis since 2000 at the Gallatin Civic Center/Municipal Tennis Facility in Gallatin, Tenn.

Previously McCormick spent 10 years as the Head Pro and Director of Tennis at Indian Lake Swim and Tennis Club in Hendersonville, Tenn., from 1995-2005.

Before moving to Nashville, McCormick was the Tennis Director for Courtyard Racquet Club, a multipurpose indoor and outdoor facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. As director he was in charge of all junior and adult tennis programs and special events.

He had worked previously as the Head Professional at Queen City Racquet Club in Cincinnati for 10 years, coaching many nationally ranked juniors, including several who won national junior and collegiate championships.

McCormick received a bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Cincinnati in 1983. He played No. 1 singles and doubles for the Bearcats, serving as team captain and earning All-Metro Conference honors during his career.
