Barlow, Barnett pace CU track at Rhodes Invite

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Joel Barlow placed 11th in the 5,000-meters and 17th in the mile run while sophomore Kalea Barnett finished seventh in the shot put and 17th in the hammer throw, leading the Cumberland track teams in their first outdoor meet of the season over the weekend at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.

Barlow wins 3,000, Covile takes second in high jump for CU men

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Joel Barlow won the 3,000-meters, freshman David Covile took second in the high jump and sophomore Jordan Hill placed third in the 800-meters for Cumberland men’s track and field over the weekend in the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Sophomore Kalea Barnett won the collegiate shot put and placed eighth in the weight throw while freshman Joel Barlow finished fifth in the 3,000-meters and anchored the distance medley relay that placed fourth, leading the Cumberland track teams Sunday at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.

CU hosting All-Sports Camp on Sept. 10

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University and the Lebanon-Wilson County Chamber of Commerce Sports Council are teaming up for the 3rd Annual All Sports Camp for Wilson County residents ages 7-14 on Sunday, September 10 from 3-5 p.m. on the CU campus. Registration starts at 2 p.m. that day.

159 named to Spring 2017 Dean's List

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University released the Dean’s List for Spring 2017 last week with 159 student-athletes and athletic training majors recognized. The honor is reserved for undergraduate students who achieved a grade-point-average of 3.50 or above on all classes attempted during the spring semester.

Craft, Madut complete season at national championships

LEBANON, Tenn. – Danielle Craft placed 22nd in the triple jump and Garang Madut was among 32 participants who did not finish the men’s marathon in extreme heat and humidity over the weekend at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland senior Garang Madut and freshman Danielle Craft were named as qualifiers for the NAIA Track and Field Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala., on May 25 – 27, as announced this past Friday by the national office.

125 student-athletes set for graduation Saturday

LEBANON, Tenn. – One hundred and twenty-five current and former Cumberland student-athletes, athletic trainers and athletic staff will receive their degrees this Saturday in the 175th Commencement ceremonies on the lawn of Memorial Hall. It marks the fifth straight year of more than 100 graduates for athletic department student-athletes and personnel.
