LEBANON, Tenn. – Senior Garang Madut finished ninth in the 3000-meters and freshman Jordan Hill placed 12th in the 800-meters, leading the Cumberland track teams over the weekend at the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Ky.
Madut and freshman Jerry Rojas placed ninth and 10th, respectively, in the 3000 with times of 9:12.03 and 9:13.00. Senior Tanner Harp was 15th (9:42.47) in the event, sophomore Chris Swann finished 19th (9:45.36) and sophomore Carlos Tirado was 20th (10:13.12) for the Phoenix.
Hill posted a personal-best time of 1:57.78 to claim 12th in the 800 and added a 16th-place showing in the 1500-meters in 4:07.59. Freshman Jonathan Hasselbald finished 12th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.95 and was 18th in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.99.
In the field events freshman Josiah Scott finished 12th and freshman Cortney Wright was 14th, respectively, in the shot put with marks of 40-1.5 and 35-7.75. Scott also placed 15th in the discus with a mark of 116-1. Wright and Scott were 17th and 18th, respectively, in the hammer throw with marks of 85-0 and 83-7.
Freshman Ishmael Arnold and Travon Wimley finished 14th and 16th, respectively, in the 400-meters with times of 52.10 and 53.41.
Freshman Amber Mays placed 18th in the 800-meters for the women in 2:28.70, while sophomore Claudia Tepox was 11th in the 3000-meters in 11:33.46.
Cumberland runs again next Friday and Saturday at the APSU Invitational in Clarksville, Tenn.
