Shimukowa reaches 800-meter finals at NAIA Championships

LEBANON, Tenn. – Charles Shimukowa qualified for the finals in the 800-meters but failed to advance in the 400-meters while Tyler Williams did not make the finals in the 60-meters Friday at the 54th Annual NAIA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championships in Brookings, S.D.

Shimukowa finished the 800 prelims in 1:53.03, seventh-best among 17 participants and just 13-hundredths of a second behind the top time. The Lusaka, Zambia, native ran 48.63 in the 400 prelims, 11th among 21 runners but only the Top 8 advance to the finals.

Williams completed the 60 prelims in 6.91, 15th among 25 competitors but only the Top 8 make the finals.

Shimukowa competes in the 800-meter finals and Bumnene Ndebele takes part in the triple jump on Saturday.
