LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Charles Shimukowa and Bumnene Ndebele earned All-America honors based on their performances at the recently completed NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Brookings, S.D. The duo becomes the first All-Americans in the three-year history of the program.

Shimukowa won the national championship in the 800-meters. The graduate transfer from Lusaka, Zambia, registered second-fastest qualifying time in the 800 in the preliminaries and improved on that mark in the finals, finishing the event in 1:52.50, three-tenths of a second in front of Spring Arbor’s Max Whittredge in second place.

Shimukowa became the first track national champion in Cumberland history.

Ndebele finished sixth in the triple jump, clearing 48-1.25 on his fifth of six tries in the event.
