LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Arthur Amorim and Christian Lester earned Mid-South Conference Men’s Volleyball Attacker and Defender of the Week accolades after the Phoenix won four league matches, as announced Monday by the league office.
Amorim posted 43 total kills with 13 blocks in the four outings. The Dunwoody, Ga., native collected 14 kills and three blocks in a 3-1 win versus Warner University and recorded 15 kills and three blocks in a 3-1 victory against Webber International. The freshman added eight kills in eight attacks with four blocks versus Brewton-Parker. Amorim hit .597 for the week (43 kills in 67 total attacks) with just three errors.
Lester tallied 15 blocks with 17 digs and 19 kills in CU's four matches. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native posted five digs and five blocks versus Warner and collected five blocks with six kills against Webber International. The freshman added four blocks, six digs and five kills versus Brewton-Parker as well.
Cumberland plays in the Siena Heights Invitational this coming weekend in Adrian, Mich., taking on Thomas More and host Siena Heights on Friday and facing Lincoln College and Goshen College on Saturday.
