LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland softball coach Heather Stanfill announced the signing of Auburntown, Tenn., native Kayley Caplinger to scholarship papers this week for the 2017-18 academic year.
The DeKalb County High School product has lettered three years for coach Danny Fish and the Tigers, earning District 8-AA Freshman of the Year as well as First Team All-District and District Tournament MVP honors in 2014. As a sophomore she earned 8-AA Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-District and TSCA All-State accolades.
Last season Caplinger garnered 8-AA Offensive Player of the Year and Co-Pitcher of the Year recognition as well as District Tournament MVP and TSAC All-State. She is the daughter of Tracy and Jeanna Caplinger.
Caplinger joins Callie Perkins (Huntland, Tenn.), Hope Titchbourne (Bozeman, Mont.), Sydney Adkins (LaFayette, Ga.), Ashley Faught (Union City, Tenn.) and Shelby Phelps (Owensboro, Ky.) in this year’s recruiting class.
