2019 CU softball schedule announced

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland softball coach Heather Stanfill announced the club’s 2019 schedule this week, which includes 32 home games and 12 contests against teams that played in last year’s NAIA Championship Opening Round.

Cumberland plays 14 of its first 16 games of the season at home beginning February 12 with a doubleheader against Alabama A&M. The Phoenix also hosts Calumet College of St. Joseph (Feb. 16-17) and Indiana Tech (Feb. 22-23) for a pair of twinbills along with single doubleheaders versus Hiwassee College (Feb. 25) and Bryan College (March 1) with only a trip to Truett-McConnell (Feb. 27) in-between.

The Phoenix then hit the road for 14-of-16 outings in the month of March, including the start of Mid-South Conference action. CU heads to Tennessee Wesleyan (March 10) and Hiwassee College (March 11) for twinbills before hosting Freed-Hardeman on March 19.

Cumberland begins Mid-South Conference play with four games at Campbellsville University on March 22-23) and travels to Martin Methodist for a doubleheader on March 26 before facing the University of the Cumberlands in four contests on March 29-30.

The Phoenix play 16 of their final 22 games of the year at home, all in the month of April, starting with a doubleheader on April 2 versus Martin Methodist and then a four-game series against Shawnee State on April 5-6. CU travels to Lindsey Wilson for a twinbill on April 9 before hosting the University of Pikeville for four contests on April 12-13 and Lindsey Wilson for two games on April 17.

The squad plays at Georgetown College in a four-game series on April 19-20 and concludes the regular season with four contests at home versus Kentucky Christian on April 26-27.

Freed-Hardeman, Lindsey Wilson, Campbellsville and Truett-McConnell all played in last year’s NAIA Championship Opening Round.

The Mid-South Conference Championships are set for May 3-5 in Bowling Green, Ky., while the NAIA Championship Opening Round takes place May 13-15 and the NAIA Championships are set for May 23-29 in Springfield, Mo.
