COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Cumberland University Bulldogs dropped both their matches 3-1 to Brenau and Indiana University-Kokomo on Friday. Maci Lerno picked up her second double-double of the season while racking up 33 kills to go along with 22 digs.

The Bulldogs (2-3) hung with Brenau during the first set of the morning match-up before falling in set one, 25-18. CU bounced back in the second set defeating the Golden Tigers by the same score.

The third and fourth frames featured both squads battling back and forth to gain the upper hand. Brenau captured both sets to the score of 27-25 and 25-19.

Lerno nearly totaled the amount of kills she recorded in both of yesterday's matches as she notched 23 kills against Brenau and she was also the only member of the Bulldogs to reach double figures in kills. She also had 15 digs to help on the defensive side.

CU started off hot against Kokomo sliding past IUK to a score 25-22 in the first frame. The second and third set brought on frustrating attack for the Bulldogs as they combined for 30 points in those stanzas. Set four saw more consistent offense, but Cumberland fell in the final set 25-22.

The Bulldogs return home on Tuesday facing Martin Methodist before hitting the road for six straight over the next two weeks. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
