Gonzalez leads five double-digit scorers at Fisk
LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Tamara Gonzalez led five double-figure scorers with 15 points and Bona Ogada added 14 points and 11 rebounds in Cumberland’s 94-37 victory at Fisk Tuesday night in Nashville.
Gonzalez hit 7-of-10 shots from the field as the Bulldogs made 56 percent overall from the floor in the contest.
Stasia Holden and Keshia Brown both scored 12 points and Tranisha Benton added 11 in the victory for CU (3-2). The Bulldogs outrebounded Fisk, 52-21, with Gonzalez and Savannah Nix both grabbing nine caroms in the contest.
Fisk committed 26 turnovers and shot just 26 percent from the field in the game. Nikeshea Morris led Fisk with 12 points and Angel Thompson added 10.
Fisk committed 21 of the miscues in the first half, as Cumberland took a 45-14 advantage at intermission. Gonzalez netted nine of her 15 points in the second half.
Cumberland hosts the Nationwide Classic this weekend at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center, taking on Loyola Friday at 8 p.m. and the University of the Cumberlands Saturday at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs open TranSouth Conference action at home against Blue Mountain College on Thursday, December 4.
