Women's hoops announces 2015-16 schedule

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland women’s basketball coach Jeremy Lewis announced the team’s 2015-16 schedule on Tuesday, which includes 13 home games and 10 contests against teams that played in last year’s NAIA National Tournament.

The Bulldogs open the season November 2 at Martin Methodist and begin the home schedule Nov. 8 versus Auburn Montgomery. CU then plays four straight outings on the road – at Talladega College (Nov. 11), Fisk University (Nov. 14), Freed-Hardeman (Nov. 17) and Lindsey Wilson (Nov. 19) – before a five-game homestand that begins Nov. 21 versus MidAmerica Christian.

Cumberland also hosts Talladega College (Nov. 24), Fisk (Nov. 30), St. Catharine College (Dec. 3) and Campbellsville University (Dec. 5) during the homestand before heading to the Union College Classic in Barbourville, Ky., on Dec. 11-12 to face Berea College and Grace College.

The Bulldogs host Lane College (Dec. 18) and Huntington College (Dec. 21) before Christmas break.

Cumberland returns to Mid-South Conference play on January 7 with four straight road outings, traveling to the University of the Cumberlands (Jan. 7) and the University of Pikeville (Jan. 9) one weekend and Georgetown College (Jan. 14) and Shawnee State (Jan. 16) the next. CU also heads to Middle Georgia State on Jan. 20 before hosting Lindsey Wilson on Jan. 28.

The Bulldogs begin the month of February at Tougaloo College (Feb. 6) and play six of their final eight regular season games at home, facing Shawnee State (Feb. 11), Georgetown (Feb. 13), Pikeville (Feb. 25) and the Cumberlands (Feb. 27) around road tilts at St. Catharine (Feb. 18) and Campbellsville (Feb. 20).

The Mid-South Conference Championships takes place March 3, 5 and 6 in Frankfort, Ky., and the 36th Annual NAIA Championships are scheduled for March 16-22 in Independence, Mo. Cumberland reached the National Tournament last season for the fifth time in program history and second in three years under Lewis.
