LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Kyra Tucker earned Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday, netting 27 points with six 3-pointers in a 74-62 victory over the University of Mobile, as announced by the league office.
The Indianapolis, Ind., native made all six of her 3-point attempts, the first Phoenix player with six triples in a game since Casie Cowan made six on January 25, 2014. Tucker connected on 10-of-15 shots overall in the contest while adding seven rebounds and three assists.
The junior netted the first eight points of the contest and 11 of the team’s first 13 points in the opening quarter, hitting three 3-pointers in the process. She added two more 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Tucker is averaging a team-best 10.7 points with 3.0 rebounds in 13 contests for the Phoenix, who host Stillman College on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the club’s final nonconference game of the season.
