LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior Ana Laura Pages Preuss carded rounds of 71-73 and junior Raquel Romero Valverde posted scores of 72-75 for Cumberland women’s golf at the Metro Parks-Town and Country Invitational this week at McCabe Golf Course in Nashville, Tenn.
The Phoenix placed fifth among seven teams, six of them NCAA Division I squads, in the club’s final fall event. Austin Peay won the event by two strokes over Tennessee Tech and 16 ahead of Belmont.
Pages Preuss shot one-over par 71 on Monday and three-over 73 on Tuesday for a four-over par total of 144 over the 36 holes. She tied for third, two shots behind the individual medalist, Austin Peay’s Reagan Greene.
Romero Valverde tied for sixth after the opening round with a two-over 72 but dropped to 11th overall with her final-round five-over 75 but only three strokes from the Top 5.
Freshman Maria Pilar Scenna recorded a first-round 81 but rebounded with a 75 on Tuesday, tying for 29th, while senior Anna Leigh Cleveland registered scores of 78-81, placing 34th individually.
Freshman Maggie Anderson and sophomore Cindy Williams each tied for 42nd, with Anderson shooting two rounds of 86 and Williams carding scores of 83-89. Senior Tessa Barto placed 44th with rounds of 88-90 for the Phoenix.
