Women's golf ranked 22nd in first spring poll

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland women’s golf ranks 22nd in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released Friday, down two spots from the team’s final fall ranking, as announced by the national office.

The Phoenix begin their spring schedule this coming week, traveling to Pine Mountain, Ga., for the Skyhawk Invitational on the Lake Course at Callaway Gardens Golf Club.

Cumberland finished in the Top 3 in three of the team’s five fall tournaments, placing fifth in another event and eighth in a tournament that featured five of the Top 6 ranked teams in this week’s poll.

The Phoenix placed third in the Georgetown Fall Invitational behind the University of the Cumberlands (ranked sixth) and Northwestern Ohio (ranked 21st) and CU third in the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational behind Lindsey Wilson (ranked 24th) and the Cumberlands.

Cumberland finished second at the Thomas University Fall Invitational behind the Cumberlands and placed eighth at the Roadrunner Invitational behind Keiser University, SCAD-Savannah, William Carey, Dalton State College and the Cumberlands, the Top 6 ranked teams nationally. Loyola University (ninth) and Southeastern University (13th) were also ahead of CU.
