Todd Allen begins his third season as head coach at Cumberland University after leading the program to a sixth-place showing in the NAIA National Tournament in 2014, the best-ever finish at the national tourney. The Bulldogs had three individuals earned All-America honors for the second straight year and Jake Williams earned the program's third national title, winning at 149.

Williams joined the likes of Corey Bleaken (2011, 157) and Keith Cupp (2005, 174) in the annals of program history with his national championship, sweeping through the 149 weight class before closing with a 9-2 Decision in the finals. Cody Linton was also the national runner-up at 184 and Zeke Hunt placed sixth at 174, tying for the 2013 mark of three All-Americans in one season. The Bulldogs were ranked as high as ninth during the season and ended the year sixth in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll.

Williams and Hunt were both voted First Team All-Mid-South Conference and Linton, Jacob Shirley, Kyle Delaune and Tyler Smith each garnered Second Team All-MSC honors. Eight CU grapplers were named Mid-South Scholar-Athletes and Hunt and Steven Sandefer both were recognized as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Williams, Hunt and Linton each garnered All-America accolades in 2013, helping the Bulldogs to a 14th-place showing at the NAIA National Tournament. The Bulldogs posted 11 dual match victories in 2012-13 as well, including wins over 20th-ranked Bacone College, No. 11 University of the Cumberlands and Shorter University.

Hunt and Joe Gallegos were voted First Team All-Mid-South Conference while Michael Gonzalez and David Capers both earned Honorable Mention recognition. Allen was named Mid-South Co-Coach of the Year; Hunt, Sandefer and Kyle Frazier all garnered MSC Scholar-Athlete accolades and Hunt was a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

Prior to joining Cumberland, Allen worked for a commercial contractor and was deployed with the U.S. Army as a Company Commander in support of military operations in the Middle East.

The Hodgenville, Ky., native served as a graduate assistant at Cumberland for two seasons, coaching three All-Americans (Jordan Powers, Corey Bleaken, Theo Dotson) and two NAIA Scholar-Athletes (Kyle Knox).

Allen was a two-time All-American at the University of the Cumberlands in 2005 and 2006, placing third as a junior and eighth as a senior. He was a member of Patriots squads that placed third as a team at the NAIA National Tournament in those same seasons. UC also finished second at the 2006 Cliff Keen National Duals.

He won a state championship and was state runner-up for coach Gary Canter at LaRue County High School in Hodgenville. Allen was a four-time state qualifier and three-time All-American, placing fourth in the state championships as a sophomore and posting a 35-6 record. He was the state runner-up as a junior, registering a 45-2 mark, and finished 45-0 with a state title as a senior. He also helped LCHS to a pair of state dual championships.
