137 student-athletes named to Spring Dean's List

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University announced the 2014 Spring Semester Dean’s List last week, which includes 137 current and former student-athletes and athletic training majors. The honor is reserved for students who have achieved a grade-point-average of 3.50 or above on all classes attempted during the spring semester.


Garrett, Hunt, Rodrigues earn Academic All-District honors

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland student-athletes Austin Garrett, Zeke Hunt and Pedro Rodrigues were voted Capital One Academic All-District 2, as announced this week by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).


131 student-athletes, personnel set to graduate

LEBANON, Tenn. – A record 131 current and former Cumberland student-athletes, athletic trainers and athletic staff will receive their degrees this Saturday in the 172nd Commencement ceremonies on the lawn of Memorial Hall on the CU campus. It marks the fourth straight year of increase in the number of graduates for athletic department student-athletes and personnel.


Williams, Hunt voted First Team All-MSC

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland junior Jake Williams and senior Zeke Hunt were both voted First Team All-Mid-South Conference and senior Jacob Shirley, freshman Kyle Delaune, junior Cody Linton and junior Tyler Smith each garnered Second Team All-MSC honors, as announced last week by the league office.


Eight wrestlers named MSC Scholar-Athletes

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland placed a league-high eight wrestlers on the Mid-South Conference Scholar-Athlete award list, announced this week by the conference office. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.25 grade-point-average to be eligible for the award.


Hunt named Lindsey Donnell Award winner

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland wrestler Zeke Hunt is the 2013-14 recipient of the Lindsey Donnell Award presented annually to a Bulldog student-athlete who excels in both academics and athletics. The award is given in honor of Lindsey Donnell, a former Bulldog football Little All-American and former professor at Cumberland University.


Athletics set to honor Bulldog scholar-athletes

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland Athletics will host the Third Annual Scholar-Athlete Recognition Day with a breakfast for 132 current students at Immanuel Baptist Church on Friday, April 25. Current Bulldog student-athletes must maintain a 3.25 grade-point-average with at least 30 credit hours passed before the spring semester.

Hunt, Sandefer named NAIA Scholar-Athletes

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Zeke Hunt and Steven Sandefer were named NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes over the weekend during the national tournament in Topeka, Kan. Student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average or above to be eligible for the award.


Williams claims program's third national title

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Jake Williams fell behind in the first period but then completely dominated in the final two, winning the program’s third individual national title with a 9-2 Decision at 149 over Bethany [KS] College’s Colby Crunk in the 57th Annual NAIA Championships at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kan.


Williams, Linton make national finals; Hunt places sixth

Wrestlers work at Nashville Rescue Mission

LEBANON, Tenn. – The Cumberland wrestling team faced an early morning on November 13 in aid of a strong cause. The squad left the Cumberland campus at 3:15 a.m. to travel to the Nashville Rescue Mission to help prepare food for a service project.
