127 named to 2016 Spring Dean's List

LEBANON, Tenn. – One hundred and twenty-seven Cumberland student-athletes, department personnel and athletic training majors were named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2016 semester, as released this week by the University.


116 current, former student-athletes graduating Saturday

LEBANON, Tenn. – One hundred and sixteen current and former Cumberland student-athletes, athletic trainers and athletic staff will receive their degrees this Saturday in the 174th Commencement ceremonies on the lawn of Memorial Hall. It marks the fourth straight year of more than 100 graduates for athletic department student-athletes and personnel.


Croley named NAIA All-American

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland junior Nate Croley was named an NAIA Wrestling All-American on Tuesday after finishing seventh at 157 at this past weekend’s national championships in Topeka, Kan.


Paden, Donchev named NAIA Scholar-Athletes

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland wrestlers Nick Paden and Peter Donchev were named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced over the weekend by the national office during the NAIA Championships in Topeka, Kan.


Croley goes 1-1 on final day of national tourney

LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior Nate Croley lost his opening round but rebounded with a Decision to finish seventh overall at 157 during Session III of the 59th Annual NAIA Wrestling Championships on Saturday at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kan.


Croley wins twice in wrestleback for CU

ESPN3 to Deliver 2016 NAIA Wrestling Championships Finals

LEBANON, Tenn. – For the first time in association history, the NAIA will deliver the final bouts of the 2016 Wrestling National Championships, presented by USA Wrestling-Kansas, on ESPN3 from the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kan. Preliminary brackets announced for NAIA Wrestling Championships

Hicks voted MSC Coach of the Year

Nguyen, Smith earn wild cards into national tourney

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland senior Tyler Smith and freshman Sean Nguyen both received wild cards into the 59th Annual NAIA Wrestling Championships set for March 4-5 in Topeka, Kan., as announced late Monday by the national office. Smith and Nguyen give the Phoenix nine participants in this year’s national tournament.


Wrestling claims Mid-South crown

LEBANON, Tenn. – Sammy Rosario, Nate Croley, Orlando Nawade, Kyle Delaune and Dustin Harris all finished second and Peter Donchev and Matt Carroll both placed third, with all seven automatically qualifying for the national tournament in two weeks. Turner places fourth at Greyhound Open

LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior Tommie Turner posted four wins in the wrestleback en route to a fourth-place finish and freshman Tony Crowell also won twice, leading a small Cumberland contingent at the Greyhound Open in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday.


Two late pins help Life defeat CU

LEBANON, Tenn. – Nate Croley and Orlando Nawade both upset ranked opponents and Kyle Delaune’s pin at 174 gave Cumberland the lead, but seventh-ranked Life University won twice by Fall in the last three bouts to claim a 27-17 victory over the Phoenix on Saturday at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

Fall Dean's List announced with 142 student-athletes recognized

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University announced the 2015 Fall Dean’s List this week, which includes 142 student-athletes, athletic department personnel and athletic training majors. The honor is reserved for students who achieved a grade-point-average of 3.50 or above on all classes attempted during the fall semester.

Ten CU squads receive NAIA Scholar-Team Award

LEBANON, Tenn. – Ten Cumberland University squads received the NAIA Scholar-Team Award recognition this week, as announced by the national office. Teams must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution to be eligible for the award, with all eligible varsity student-athletes factored into the team GPA.
