Bulldogs drop 2-0 decision at APSU
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cierra Boots made 13 saves but Cumberland allowed two early goals in dropping a 2-0 decision to Austin Peay Tuesday night in Clarksville, Tenn.
Cumberland (1-2-0) did not take a shot in the match, while APSU had 36 shots, including 15 on-goal. Boots made 13 saves and allowed just two goals, both in the first 25 minutes of the match. She made six saves in the first half and seven more in the second period.
APSU’s Laurena Robinson scored on an assist from Monique Wong in the 17th minute for a 1-0 Govs lead. The home team added to its advantage with another goal six minutes later, this one from Wong on an assist by Lauren Moon.
Cumberland opens the home schedule Friday with a 2 p.m. match against Kentucky Wesleyan at the CU Soccer Field. The Bulldog men follow with a match against KWU at 4 p.m. Friday.
