LEBANON, Tenn. – Morgan Shaffer posted her first career hat trick and Rhianne Parsons and Simone Quinn each added a pair of goals in Cumberland’s 8-0 victory over Judson College Wednesday in Marion, Ala.

Shaffer, a sophomore from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., recorded the only goal of the first half on an assist from Helena Dimantas Farias in the 23rd minute. The Bulldogs scored seven times in the second half, starting with Shaffer’s score in the 55th minute and ending with another Shaffer tally in the 88th minute.

Parsons’ penalty kick in the 63rd minute gave CU a 4-0 edge and the Tavistock, England, freshman scored again on an assist from Michelle Ward in the 81st minute.

Quinn had back-to-back goals in the 73rd and 76th minutes, the first a header off a corner kick from Katie Ongaro and the second a long shot past Judson keeper Lauren Browning. Ongaro scored the Bulldogs second goal of the match on an assist from Dimantas Farias in the 58th minute.

Wednesday’s outing began a stretch of five matches in 11 days for Cumberland.

Cumberland plays its first home conference match of the year Sunday against Lyon College in a men’s and women’s doubleheader. The women start at Noon and the men follow at 2 p.m.
