LEBANON, Tenn. – Simone Quinn’s 12 saves were not enough to hold off sixth-ranked Martin Methodist in Cumberland’s 2-0 loss, as the Bulldog offense struggled in women’s soccer action Saturday at the CU Soccer Field.

Nicole O’Donnell put Martin Methodist (8-3-2, 5-0-0 TranSouth) ahead with her third goal of the season in the eighth minute.

Quinn made 10 consecutive saves to keeping Cumberland (4-6-1, 0-3-1) in the match until the Redhawks netted their second goal, this one from Heather Holley in the 82nd minute, who smashed a rebound off the crossbar into the back of the net. For her efforts Quinn was named the Music City Star of the Game.

Cumberland was outshot, 29-2, in the match with the Morgan Shaffer clipping one wide in the 48th minute and forward Rhianne Parsons sending a shot over the net in the 67th minute.

Cumberland travels to Dayton, Tenn., to take on Bryan College this Wednesday before returning home to take on conference rival Trevecca Nazarene in a men’s and women’s doubleheader on Wednesday, October 26. The women’s match starts at 1 p.m. followed by the men.
